Caren Ortensia 1/8 (Alter)

The forgotten, real fourth TYPE-MOON heroine. Caren is the main heroine of Fate/hollow ataraxia, but no one remembers because 1) Fate/hollow ataraxia wasn’t as popular as Fate/stay night as a VN, and 2) Caren was a pretty bland character ;( TYPE-MOON considers their 4 heroines to be Ryougi Shiki (Kara no Kyoukai), Arcueid (Tsukihime), Saber (Fate/stay night), and Aoko (Mahou Tsukai no Yoru) in that chronological order, but they forget the other two main heroines that came before Mahouyo (i.e. Caren of Fate/hollow ataraxia and Sion of Melty Blood, both of which came before Mahouyo).

Even though she was meant to be a seductive character, I’m pretty sure even Bazett has more of a fan following than Caren…

This is just the one of a long series of post-unboxing, backlogged TYPE-MOON figure reviews. After moving to my new place, I set up a nice corner of the room for figure photography and took a bunch of review-style photo sets of figures as I re-unboxed them. Most of these figures are second hand, B/B grade, so keep that in mind when going through the photos.

The box. Same style as the Saber Alter and Matou Sakura figures I reviewed earlier.

In blister pack

A few interesting parts

She’s sitting on some stool of sort… at least a slightly more interesting base than the other two Fate/hollow ataraxia Alter figures

She simply sits on the stool, which is shaped with her butt so she sits comfortably, and with one peg which attaches to the bottom of her right foot

The figure body is a single piece without removable legs/head/etc.

The figure comes with the Mystic Code Shroud of Magdalene already wound around her, but it is actually removable and attaches to the character body via pegs

Just the Shroud of Magdalene alone

She comes with a removable beret that actually fits quite snuggly on her head since the contacting area fits right into her hair folds

Putting on the beret

All together

With her box

This is the third of the three Fate/hollow ataraxia figures Alter released in 2006 – here they are all together (minus the 2007 WonFes/hamburger Saber Alter)

The Fate/hollow ataraxia CG (extra wallpaper actually) that I believe this figure is loosely based on (or it’s pose at least)

Heres a CG of her with her Shroud

Personally, I wish someone would have made a scaled figure of her in her priestess outfit, but I guess there’s always Ciel-sempai to fill that gap

But best is in Carnival Phantasm, where her trolling/sadistic personality shines xD
