I've read me "Help my ipod's broken!" posts, but the responses sometimes vary, with some suggesting this tool and others suggesting others [I need better grammer ; ) ]. In addition, having an iPod nano, I am use to bringing along with me a whole list of portable programs that I run straight from the iPod itself. When I reinstalled my computer a while ago, however, I forgot to back up some of those programs and thus I had to search for and redownload most of them. And so, seeing as I had quite a collection at hand, now I've decided to package it up nicely with a ReadMe and upload it for general usage.

This package (you'll need 7-Zip to extract since 7-Zip compresses better than WinRar) contains a whole list of stand-alone programs that'll help you manage your iPod needs. Numerous programs for reformatting and recovering your iPod, programs for managing music, programs for transforming your iPod into a PDA and more, and other miscellaneous fun stuff that'll handle all your iPod needs. It even includes a ReadMe by yours truely with program descriptions and download links. Most of these are freeware, shareware or open sourced. All of them (with the exception of iStory Creator and Pod2Go Beta) can be downloaded for free from their websites. The only trials (Aefdisk32 and Anapod Explorer) do not become limited after expiring. All documentations and readme's are found in the "Documents" folder of each program folder. The terms of license you sometimes read when installing a program is saved as Terms.txt. You must read and agree with the license/terms/etc first for each program before using it.

Nevertheless, here's the full list:

|| iPodLinux
Installer 2
MoPiD
PPM Converter

|| iPodWizard
iPodWizard (v 1.2)
iPW-Theme Converter

|| FooBar2k
FooBar2000 + foo_pod

|| Tools

Videora iPod Converter
iDirectionz
Notepad++
Win32Pad
7-Zip

|| Music Managers

PodPlayer
EphPod
SharePod
iPodFolder (iPod -> Folder)\
vPod
xPodClone
Anapod Explorer (Trial)

|| PDA Tools
Pod2Go (Old Beta)
iPodLibrary
GoogleGet
iPod Extras
getFeeds
getCals
getFolks
k-pod
Outpod

|| Miscellaneous
Blackjack
goPod
euPOD Pro
BiblePod

|| Disk Management
HP USB Formatter (HP USB Disk Storage Tool)
AefDisk32
LToolsNet
Windows98-Driver
Anapod Reinitializer
Qemu [FreeDos n ActiveBootDisk]
FreeDos.img [Qemu]
ActiveBootDisk.iso [Qemu]
MKBT
KillDisk.exe
KillDisk-BootableDiskCreator.exe

=========================

[Full ReadMe with program descriptions found here]

Its a big package at 30+ mb. Each program (with the exception of MoPid), however, is sized at 10 mb or less (most at 5 mb or less).
The only one with potential legal issues for redistribution would be the Pod2Go Beta version. It was originally released as a trial but was also freeware. The new updated version, Life2Go, however, is not and requires a license. Although Pod2Go Beta was a trial and had an expiry date, the date seems to be hardcoded as there are ways to get around it (legal? I'm not sure). Otherwise, none of the other programs seem to be of any problem.

If you have any other freeware/shareware programs that aren't trial limited, please post and I'll add them to the package. If there are any programs with legal conflictions for distribution (this is for non-commercial and personal purposes, remember), please post. Also keep in mind that even programs such as the iPod Updater are distributed freely Wink

These are tools and utility for iPod management, not applications and fun things with iPodLinux. If I were to add everything I knew and had with iPodLinux (zillae, applications, games, etc), it'd be over a gigabyte (excluding the encyclopodia wiki file of course). The installer is official and stable while MoPid is a widely used tool. Triple Threat is nothing but a system usable by iPodLinux, not a real application itself. Either way, the current versions of TT out at the moment are too unstable and have quite a few bugs. Its the same reason I did not include ZZ in the package. Not to mention that they'd be quite big.

~Keripo

Edit: I realized that some of the above programs require the copywrite/license file to be with it for redistribution, so when I get time tomorrow I'll upload a new package with the required files. In addition, I'll also be adding iPod Extras, vPod, xPodClone, and (although I dislike it because of its limitations as a trial) Anapod Explorer only because its an unlimited trial.

This rocks, I'm downloading it atm. Thanx for putting everything together! I'm going to check out all those weird unknown (to me) things in that package (those PDA tools).

Why didn't you put FooBar2k under Music Managers? I don't know what that plugin is supposed to do, but I would imagine it does something like WinAmp+plugin...

Why not put FooBar2000 under its Music Managers? Cause its awsome enough to get its own category. If you're a user of Rockbox (like I am), you'll hardly ever even need to start up iTunes and Foobar is always essential and needs to be available for quick usage. If I have time I plan to try making a quick .exe for iTunesDB rebuilding from the foo_pod source, but not in a while. But the main point is, FooBar is awsome enough for its own category. And even as a music manager, its got far more better capabilities than iTunes ; )

Ps. But yeah, there'll be a lightweight version of FooBar that'll also be placed in the Music Manager's section.

How about Videora Ipod video converter. if you have a video it converts it to ipod video format. it has a nice interface too. i also find it useful for when you have .m4v format from either itunes or other sites that you can convert into a .mp4 from that to run through mopid or mv encoder.(you usually get messed up videos from .m4v) its completely freeware with no ads, and full function. here: http://www.videora.com/en-us/Converter/iPod/

Looks nice - I'll add it. Due to RL busy-ness, however, I might not be able to upload a new oackage soon, but I'll try for tonight.

What's so amazing about FooBar + foo_pod in combination with Rockboox? I'm a big fan of Rockbox, but I don't feel like copying all my songs and having to browse a long time to find a song (that tag cache thing doesn't work for me...)
So, what does FooBar do?

iHack is actually already integrated into iPodWizard now. You use the "Change String" textbox now.

New update. Added FooBar2000 Lite, Videora iPod Converter, vPod, xPodClone, iPod Extras and the trial version of Anapod Explorer. For those who find FooBar lacking of nice GUI, I've also included the installer for MediaMonkey, a nice jukebox also with iTunesDB rebuilding capabilities. I also included all necessary documents for each program in a "Documents" folder, including things like the license, copyright, readme's, etc. The license thingy that you see when installing is saved as Terms.txt. In addition, I also corrected the MPlayer package name to MPlayerPUI. No wonder why I couldn't find the original download source.

Last but not least, after messing around with various compression methods, I found that compressing with 7-Zip at "Ultra" level was 25% more efficient that using WinRar at "Best" [36 mb vs almost 48 mb]. So, all future packages will be compressed using 7-Zip. Yay freeware!

~Keripo

Ps. As an extra, theres a little and simple ASCII in the ReadMe cause I got bored ; )
