== Khaos Guild Wars Attack Strategies: Intro == DO NOT SHARE THIS WITH ANYONE OUTSIDE OF KHAOS! Last updated: 2018/07/18 The following is some general strategy guide for how to take down defenders in guild wars. Keep in mind that at Khaos' level, you will often be fighting whale opponents much stronger than you (especially with the defender stat bonus buff) from other top guilds on the server. But no matter how strong an opponent is, with careful planning, patience and sometimes a bit of help from your guildmates, we can take down anyone. One important thing to keep in mind when participating in guild wars attacks is that it is very different from arena in terms of WINNING CONDITION. In arena/grand arena/colosseum, you win if at the end of the fight YOU have MORE UNITS STANDING than the opponent.. But in guild war, you "win" if at the end the end of the fight your OPPONENT has LESS UNITS STANDING than s/he did at the START of the fight. In other words, even if all 5 of your units die, as long as even ONE of the opponent's units are dead, this is considered a "win". This is because damage and deaths carry over between fights, and if the next fight the opponent team starts with only 4 units, their team synergy is likely broken and you will be able to easily take down more units the secound round. Because all your units can only each be used once (even if they take no damage) and your sole focus is to take down enemy units (as opposed to survival), it is sometimes not even necessary to have healer or tank in guild war attack teams (and you will often make tank-less/healer-less teams from whatever remaining units you have). Guild war fights are also a bit different from arena fights in that you can quit (pause fight using top right button) and retry with no penality nor wait time (whereas in arena, you have to wait for a 10 minute cooldown). You are also able to MANUALLY control the fight, meaning you can time your hero's skill usages and limit bursts (ideally to interrupt the enemy team's healer or tank skill). This means you can retry the fight multiple times until you get your timing down perfectly or happen to get good RNG luck. This also means guild wars is a perfect testing ground for testing out various PvP teams and setups. One odd note is how HP buffs work in guild wars. Suppose the enemy team has a Rei with 100k HP and accessories that give her +50% HP. During the fight, she will start off with 150k HP. You manage to get her down to half HP (75k). After the fight though, when you look at her stats, her HP bar will show up as 75% instead of 50%. And when the second fight starts, she will start the fight at 112.5k HP (which is why it often looks like the enemy team "heals" at the start of fights). As a result, to make progress, you have to bring her to lower than 75k HP during the second fight. Against some very tough enemies, sometimes this is the best you can do (e.g. bring down an enemy unit to a lower starting HP so that you or someone else can fully take them down in the next fight). If you do manage to bring any unit down completely, 0 HP is 0 HP :) Because the winning condition for guild wars is taking down at least one or more defending units, the general strategy is as follows: Focus fire a specific target (e.g. weak point) while keeping the enemy team from wiping your attackers too fast (e.g. CCing them). In the next section, I will cover CC, and in the sections after that I will cover how to focus fire specific heroes/targets. == Khaos Guild Wars Attack Strategies: Learning how to CC == DO NOT SHARE THIS WITH ANYONE OUTSIDE OF KHAOS! Last updated: 2018/07/17 In all forms PvP, CC (crowd control) is king. The best offense is a strong defence, and that is certainly true when it comes to the theory of CC. By locking down your opponents, not only are you preventing the enemy team's heroes from using their defensive skills but you are also stopping your own team from being CC'd and thus giving your heroes the chance to use their offensive gears and skills to kill the enemy team. While arena/GA/colosseum and even guild wars defence is 100% about CC, guild wars attack is different in that it is 50% CC and 50% focus fire. This is because if you focus 100% on CC in your attack teams, there's a high chance that none of the enemy team members die (especially with the +30% stat buff) and the fight will likely end in a draw. But if you don't apply any CC, your units will likely get CC'd themselves and end up all dying. As such, you should aim to strike a good balance between CC and focus firing and think of CC as a support mechanism that will give you the leeway to apply your focus fire safely. The following gears are the quintessential PvP CC gears. Most of them are (not unexpectedly) rare gears from exclusive banners or lucky summons or past events. - Guile's Essence - N2 Missile - Madoka's Bow - Cane of Naught - Gambler Rod - Homura's Shield - Staff of Chaos - Pumpkin Staff - Lightning Gloves - Kyokugen Karate Gi Valhalla weapons are also very powerful and should definitely be used if you notice the enemy team not wearing hardstones (which does happen more often than you think). - Valhalla Staff (petrify highest matk) - Valhalla Bow (petrify highest patk) - Valhalla Sword (petrify nearest) - Valhalla Gun (petrify furthest) If you have a Decorated Blaster (charm to nearest and furthest), also check if Purity/Chasity rings are being used. Hero choice is just as important as gear choice when it comes to locking down the enemy (especially if you are F2P and don't have any of the above listed whale gears). When attacking a target, it is very important to first inspect the defending team's racial composition and choose heroes that can counter the used races. If you can CC lock 3 or more members of their team, you are effectively "hardcountering" their team composition and should have an easy time winning (or at least allow the rest of your team to focus fire down a sepecific target). The following is a reference chart of heroes whose hero skill apply CCs to multiple targets. Do note that Aesirs are very risky to use due to taking extra damage from AGymir's passive, being vulnerable to a lot of hero skills, and the inability to wear Hardstones. As such, if you plan on using an Aesir, first check the enemy team's hero skills and gear to ensure your Aesir doesn't insta-melt. Also note that the dwarf race isn't included as there are currently no hero skills that target dwarves (except Silva's whose CC applies to all grounded). == Khaos Guild Wars Attack Strategy: Tank Busting == DO NOT SHARE THIS WITH ANYONE OUTSIDE OF KHAOS! Last updated: 2018/07/18 Tank busting is the simplest and pretty straight forward attack target. The idea is to prevent heals (brand, reckoning, or curse), prevent skill usage (slow, fear, silence, confuse, charm, paralyze, petrify, freeze) and/or barrier (barrier seal/barrier removal) while trying to maximize damage dealt (corrupt, wounds, defence debuffs). Note that charm can be Purity Ring'd and Petrify can be Hardstone'd, but sometimes people forget to/choose not to use those items on their tank. In those cases, make sure to take advantage of this. The three most common tanks are Luca, Rei, and Etricia. While you can apply mostly the same strategy against all three of them in terms of gearing, remember that Etricia's elf race means that many hero skills won't affect her. Etricia does, however, have very low fire resistance and can easily be destroyed through raw damage with Asuka/Valk Asuka/Fei Lang/Twins Lolo & Nana, etc. team utilizing fire wound and lowest fire resistance targetting. Also keep in mind that Rei does not self-heal with her skill so brand/reckoning isn't very strong against her. Due to her high HP, it often ends up not being advisable to try to tank bust Rei and instead try to find another attack vector. Heroes (affects Luca, Rei and Etricia): - Bestla (reckoning) - Hyuga (paralyze) - Thor (paralyze) - Silva (freeze) - Treeazi (confuse) - Jord (petrify) - Sakeko (corrupt) - Valkyrie Asuka (barrier seal) - Mimir (remove barrier) - Beatrix (confuse/slow/petrify) - Chun Li (defence down) Heroes (affects Luca and Rei): - Litany (brand) - Mia (brand) - Estella (brand) - Norn (reckoning) - Illyasviel (curse) - Vidar (curse) - Roveria (freeze + slow) - Kula (freeze) - Fenrir (freeze) - Matisse (confuse + slow) - Frey (charm) - Freya (charm) - Luka (charm) - Angrboda (fear) - Ipsum (corrupt) - Karin (barrier seal) Heroes (affects Etricia): - Summer Gullvieg (freeze) - Walpurgis (confuse) - 13mir (silence) - Kaguya (corrupt) Gear (SP): - Litany SP/X (brand) - Mia SP/X (brand) - Norn SP (reckoning) - Bestlas SP (reckoning) - Matisse SP/X/Costume (confuse + slow) - Frey SP/X (charm highest patk) - Angrboda SP (fear) - Sakeko SP/X (corrupt) - Thor SP/X (paralyze) - Skadi (freeze + fear) - Silva (freeze) - Karin costume (barrier seal) - Chun Li (defence down) Gear (melee): - Balmung (brand) - Forbidden Blade (curse) - Vigrid (freeze) - Kula's Lollipop (freeze) - Valhalla Sword (petrify) - Tyrfing (fear + corrupt) - Spine Crusher (fear) Gear (mage): - Storche Ritter (curse) - Pineapple stick (paralyze/charm/sleep) - Staff of Anguish (fear) - Ravishing Mask (slow) - Squid on a Stick (slow) Gear (ranger): - Holy Spear of Cassius (reckoning + barrier seal) - N2 Missile (fear + skill gauge down) - Bow of Evil (curse) - Necronomi-Gun (curse) - Kula's Lollipop (freeze) - Valhalla Bow (petrify) - Rainbow Shooter (barrier seal/confuse/slow) - Decorated Blaster (charm) - Wreath Bow (paralyze/charm) - Idor Bow (confuse) - Zachariah Bow (silence) - N2 Missile (fear + corrupt) - Ravishing Mask (slow) - Skyborn Gun (slow) == Khaos Guild Wars Attack Strategy: Mage-Snipe == DO NOT SHARE THIS WITH ANYONE OUTSIDE OF KHAOS! Last updated: 2018/07/18 Mage sniping (e.g. focus firing the highest matk target) is another common general strategy that used to be the arena meta a while back. It is very gear dependent but pretty effective due to taking out what was usually the biggest threat first. In the current meta, however, mage snipe isn't as strong due to the increase in CC items (mainly dog tags and gambler rods) combined with tankier mages (e.g. AGymir and AMirka). But it's still a very valid strategy and one that you should definitely try out if you notice the highest matk enemy target either is either squishy or not wearing a hardstone (such as AOdin, Magical Twins, Chihaya, Walpurgis, Beatrix, Nott, etc). For hero choice, pretty much whatever heroes give you race advantage due to hero skills. Since this is guild war attack and not defence or arena, you should not hesitate to run a 4-mage or even 5-mage setup if that's whats needed to break through. Once you've taken down their highest matk mage, you can do cleanup on the second round in a 5v4 fight. Note that if you are a newer player, you will likely not have all the ideal gear for mage sniping. In this case, you can use lowest HP targetting gear or general offensive CC gear (like gambler rods). Also note that "highest matk" is calculated dynamically during combat. As such, make sure to calculate and compare expected matk buffs from accessories and passives to determine who will likely be the highest matk target (accessories stack up to +50% matk, plus passives up to 50% matk, plus active buffs for another +50%). AOdin, for example, might not be wearing any matk up accessories but his passives will likely keep him up as the highest matk target. Same goes with other awakened mages. Gear (melee): - Lightning Gloves (paralyze highest matk) - Balmung (brand + mdef down nearest 3) - Rainbow Choco Stick (highest matk) - Akuma's Evil Essence (lowest HP) - Akuma's Essence (lowest HP) Gear (mage): - Valhalla Staff (petrify highest matk) - Magic Pumpkin Staff (random status ailment highest matk) - Homura's Shield (slows 2 highest matk) - Ragnarok SP (matk->patk + exhaust highest matk) - Ken costume (highest matk) - Dios Cuerno (highest matk) - Homura Costume (2 highest matk) - niconico Sword (matk->patk lowest HP) - Dread Dress (lowest HP) Gear (ranger): - Bow of Evil (curse lowest HP) - Firebringer (lowest HP) - Tinker SP/X (lowest HP) == Khaos Guild Wars Attack Strategy: Anti-Frey == DO NOT SHARE THIS WITH ANYONE OUTSIDE OF KHAOS! Last updated: 2018/07/18 Frey was a huge meta-changer a while back due to her broken skill which effectively charms your entire team and has a very short startup animation. Her skill can often turn around a fight completely, and so many people still use her on defence. Luckily, since her release, there have been many new items and heroes that hardcounter her and remember, in guild wars, all it takes is taking down a single 1 defending unit to break a defence team. So in this case, Frey actually becomes a weak point that you can easily exploit. Frey is Aesir, has very low dark and water resist, and sits on the melee line (usually position 2 in a standard defence team formation). This makes her vulnerable to a LOT of things. First, she can be petrified due to not being able to wear a hardstone. Being on the melee line also lets her be easily hit by anything that targets row or nearest 2/nearest 3. But most importantly she is Aesir and weak to dark, meaning all you need really is AGymir and you can easily wreck her. She is also very easy to target as she will likely be the highest patk and lowest dark resist and lowest water resist. When setting up your anti-Frey team, try to use units that won't be charmed by Frey and use purity rings/chasity rings as she will be gaining skill gauge very quickly if you don't chain CC her properly. Prepare to reset the fight multiple times for best RNG and ideally spike her down before she can fire off her skill. Heroes (dark): - AGymir (dark matk all, opening 5 turn dark wound all, entire ally team +30% dmg against Aesirs) - Evil Ryu (dark patk + brand lowest dark resist) - Ragnarok dark matk->patk all, dark wound) - Nott (dark matk + stats down to lowest dark resist) - AHomura (dark matk + shades highest patk) - Magical Twins (dark matk + slow + confuse all) - Twinspear Zweilie (dark patk + dark wound lowest dark resist) - Kaguya (dark matk + corrupts nearest 3) - Sakeko (therian, dark patk + corrupts nearest 3) - Akuma (dark patk + silences lowest HP) - Yvette (dark matk lowest dark resist) - Ragnarok (beast, dark matk->patk all) - Nabby (dwarf, dark matk nearest row) Heroes (water): - Roveria (water patk + freeze + slow all) - Valkyrie Rei (water matk + freeze + water wound highest patk/matk/spd) - Skadi (water patk + freeze + fear nearest 3) - Fenrir (water patk + freeze nearest row) - Silva (water matk + freeze + water wound nearest 2) - Chun Li (water patk + pdef/mdef down nearest row) - Lolo & Nana (water matk + confuse lowest water resist) - AGullvieg (water matk + petrify nearest row) - Mizuki (water patk lowest water resist) - Susano-o (water patk + skill gauge down 2 lowest water resist) Hero (other): - Alice (slow + sleep all) - Matisse (neutral matk + confuse + slow 2 highest patk) - Walpurgis (earth matk + confuse all) - Kili (dwarf, earth matk + skill gauge down nearest row) - AMirka (passive whole team CC resist for 5 turns) Gear (melee): - Balmung (dark patk + mdef down + brand nearest 3) - Blade of the Fallen (dark patk nearest row) - Sayaka's Cutlass (water patk nearest row) - Shinji's Armored Gauntlet (water patk nearest row) Gear (mage): - Nott SP/X (dark matk + stats down to lowest dark resist) - Mani's Little Helper (dark matk + sleep highest patk) - Magically Imbued Scarf (dark matk + exhaust highest patk) - Dark Wing Staff (dark matk + patk down nearest 3) - Genesis Ender (dark matk nearest 3) - Dread Dress (dark matk + dark wound lowest HP) - Jellyfish Rod (water matk nearest 2) - Dark Feather Coat (mdef down to lowest dark resist) - Lolo & Nana SP/X (water matk lowest water resist) - Kili Costume (earth matk + skill gauge down nearest row) - M Bison's Essence (dark matk + patk down nearest row) - Grimoire of Accusation (dark matk nearest row) - Nabby Costume (dark matk nearest row) - Ice Mirror (water matk nearest row) - Angrboda SP (fear nearest row) Gear (ranger): - Valhalla Bow (petrify highest patk) - Matisse SP/X (slow + confuse highest patk) - Idor Bow (confuse nearest row) - Yvette Costume (dark matk + dark wound to 2 lowest dark resist) - Yvette SP/X (dark matk lowest dark resist) - Mizuki (water patk + skill gauge down lowest water resist) - Susano-o SPX (water patk 2 lowest water resist) == Khaos Guild Wars Attack Strategy: Anti-Chihaya == DO NOT SHARE THIS WITH ANYONE OUTSIDE OF KHAOS! Last updated: 2018/07/18 Chihaya used to be a very popular arena hero due to her CC hitting popular races that Alice didn't cover. She still appears in many guild war defence teams nowadays but like Frey, her Aesir race and low dark/water resist makes her an easy target. Her base matk is very high but players will usually try to make her not highest matk. Her positioning is pretty up front but she will probably be position 3 if they are running double melee or use AGymr/Rita/Silva, so you will mostly have to rely on "nearest 3" and "lowest dark/water resist" for targetting. The recommended heroes/gears for anti-Chihaya are pretty much just a subset of anti-Frey, but with niconico Swords. Heroes (dark): - AGymir (dark matk all, opening 5 turn dark wound all, entire ally team +30% dmg against Aesirs) - Evil Ryu (dark patk + brand lowest dark resist) - Ragnarok dark matk->patk all, dark wound) - Nott (dark matk + stats down to lowest dark resist) - Magical Twins (dark matk + slow + confuse all) - Twinspear Zweilie (dark patk + dark wound lowest dark resist) - Kaguya (dark matk + corrupts nearest 3) - Sakeko (therian, dark patk + corrupts nearest 3) - Akuma (dark patk + silences lowest HP) - Yvette (dark matk lowest dark resist) - Ragnarok (beast, dark matk->patk all) Heroes (water): - Roveria (water patk + freeze + slow all) - Valkyrie Rei (water matk + freeze + water wound highest patk/matk/spd) - Skadi (water patk + freeze + fear nearest 3) - Lolo & Nana (water matk + confuse lowest water resist) - Mizuki (water patk lowest water resist) - Susano-o (water patk + skill gauge down 2 lowest water resist) Hero (other): - Alice (slow + sleep all) - Walpurgis (earth matk + confuse all) Gear (melee): - Balmung (dark patk + mdef down + brand nearest 3) Gear (mage): - Nott SP/X (dark matk + stats down to lowest dark resist) - Dark Wing Staff (dark matk + patk down nearest 3) - Genesis Ender (dark matk nearest 3) - Dark Feather Coat (mdef down to lowest dark resist) - Lolo & Nana SP/X (water matk lowest water resist) - Dread Dress (dark matk + dark wound lowest HP) - niconico Sword (matk->patk lowest HP) Gear (ranger): - Yvette Costume (dark matk + dark wound to 2 lowest dark resist) - Yvette SP/X (dark matk lowest dark resist) - Mizuki (water patk + skill gauge down lowest water resist) - Susano-o SPX (water patk 2 lowest water resist) == Khaos Guild Wars Attack Strategy: Anti-Matisse == DO NOT SHARE THIS WITH ANYONE OUTSIDE OF KHAOS! Last updated: 2018/07/18 Matisse is a very commonly used PvP ranger due to her heavy CC capabilities (in particular, her costume). Her dark resist, however, is extremely low, allowing her to be picked off in a similar fashion as Frey and Chihaya. She is a bit tankier HP-wise though and she isn't Aesir so AGymir's bonus damage won't apply. But she is range and there's a lot of backline dark hero skills that can easily take her down. Heroes: - ABrunhild (dark patk + dark wound highest evasion) - AGymir (dark matk all, opening 5 turn dark wound all, entire ally team +30% dmg against Aesirs) - Evil Ryu (dark patk + brand lowest dark resist) - Ragnarok dark matk->patk all, dark wound) - Nott (dark matk + stats down to lowest dark resist) - Anubis (dark matk + curse + dark wound furthest row) - Halloween Niji (dark matk + fear furthest row) - Magical Twins (dark matk + slow + confuse all) - Twinspear Zweilie (dark patk + dark wound lowest dark resist) - Mani (dark matk + sleep furthest row) - Yatsude (dark patk + silence furthest 2) - AMomijio (dark patk furthest) - Sentia (dark patk + brand furthest 2) - Kaworu (dark matk + mdef/pdef down furthest 3) Gear (melee): - Brunhild SP/X (dark patk + dark wound highest evasion) - Kaworu's Stillness Spear (dark patk-> matk furthest row) - Akuma's Evil Essence (dark patk lowest HP) - Akuma's Essence (dark patk lowest HP) Gear (mage): - Halloween Niji SP/X (dark matk + fear furthest) - Mani SP/X (dark matk + sleep furthest) - Dread Dress (dark wound + lowest HP) - niconico Sword (matk->patk lowest HP) Gear (ranger): - Momiji SP/X (dark patk + paralyze furthest row) - Momiji costume (dark patk + random stat down furthest) - Calamity Bow (dark patk furthest) - Dark Cerberus (dark matk + blind furthest) - Ibuki's Essence (neutral patk + def down furthest 2) == Khaos Guild Wars Attack Strategy: Anti-Alice == DO NOT SHARE THIS WITH ANYONE OUTSIDE OF KHAOS! Last updated: 2018/07/18 Alice is the other most commonly used PvP ranger due to her CC skill. Like Matisse, Alice is very tanky (especially with her bunny ears costume) but she has low light resistance and can be sniped in a similar way to Matisse. Do note though that some of the heroes who counter her are also vulnerable to her skill (e.g. those with a * before their name), so you might need some RNG luck on your side to take her down. Note that just Tholin + AOdin limit burst will be able to burst down most Alice's. Heroes: - *Tholin (light patk + light wound to highest SPD and ACC) - *Sol (light matk + paralyze furthest row) - *Tesla (light matk + paralyze furthest row) - *Kagamine Rin (light matk + paralyze furthest) - *AOdin (light matk + mdef down all) - *AThor (light patk + paralyze all) - *AVerdandi (light patk furthest 3) - Petra (light patk + def down furthest) - *Muninn (light patk furthest 3) - AMadoka (light matk + mdef down furthest 2) Gear (melee): - Tholin SP/X (light patk + light wound to highest SPD and ACC) - Saint's Sickle (light patk furthest 3) - Norn Costume (light patk + paralyze + reckoning furthest row) Gear (mage): - Sol SP/X (light matk + paralyze furthest row) - Tesla SP/X (light matk + paralyze furthest row) - Kagamine Rin SP/X (light matk + paralyze furthest) - Dread Dress (light wound + lowest HP) - niconico Sword (matk->patk lowest HP) Gear (ranger): - Guile's Essence (light matk + silence furthest 3) - AVerdandi (light patk furthest 3)
