Well, it works just like my Rockbox and iPL installer I'm finishing right now (I just have to upload the update files to my website).

Alright, I lied. One post. But this is only to clarify things and pose a question.

Please remember that this is just a demonstrative release and not yet fully functional in many areas. For Podzilla2-Mod, while I have set up the organized menus, I haven't implemented the auto-organizing functions yet, so for the moment being, they're just place-holders (the auto-organizing function will organize the module's menu items according to the module's folder's location in "/root/PZ2Mods" rather than all being lumped into the "/Extras" menu). Tonight (or some time soon) I'll compile the modules from source from the wiki page (all will appear under the "/Extras" menu as normal though for the time being) as well as stick together a rough pack of PZ2 schemes and fonts that should work with ZeroLauncher, PZ2-Mod and ZacZilla. And, like everything else, (manual) installation will be just as easy as installing new Slackr packs: just extract using 7-zip to your iPod's music partition (for Macs n Linux, use p7-zip).

As for the installer, this is a modified version of AriX's batch file. This is a very temporary "installer" however - there are plans for an actual installer that installs/updates/uninstalls the packs similar to how Installer 2 works. I don't mind other people helping me out with making a temporary installer/pack manager, but I'll eventually be making one in Java as my culminating project for my school computer course, so it'll come eventually.

Now for my question (partially directed to imphasing but also to anyone else who could answer it). Since everything is licensed under GNU GPL (as far as I know), would there be any legal issues if I created a SourceForge project with the forked/modified code in SVN? I've seen other projects (ie ZacZilla) have their own SF projects, but much of the code I'm using is the original with each pack modified to varying degrees (some only a few string lines, some having quite a few functions changed). I'm really not familiar nor understand any of the legal issues that come with licenses such as GPL ; / Bottom line, what legal issues are there concerning creating a new SourceForge project? Would it be better to instead release files as random uploads?

Ps. Edited first post to include current pack list, to-do list and potential try list.

Pss. To megabyte:
The aim of this project is not to make an easy installer that installs stuff for you. I've seen "installers" that have all the applications pre-installed and just copy over the Linux partition. This is something completely different.

The aim of this project is to create self-contained packs that don't even need installation. Take Floyd2illA for example. All the data files and settings are read and saved into that single "Floyd2illA" folder. It's a completely stand-alone pack that can be extracted anywhere on your iPod and runs (even without the ZeroSlackr system). Just about every of those 7-zip Slackr Packs can extracted to and run from anywhere onto your iPod. The ZeroSlackr system just assimilates all of them in an organized manner and provides easy accessibility to all their capabilities.

Keripo, maybe we should team up? I'll gladly do some programmming, since I'm kinda border ATM.

Under the GNU GPL, you can pretty much do anything you like with the source. Creating a new project with an SVN isn't a problem at all, as long as you provide the source. It's nice to credit the original products as well.

I'm such a bad/inconsistent lier O_o"

Sourceforge page:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/zeroslackr/

SVN:
http://zeroslackr.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/zeroslackr/

Now just called Project ZeroSlackr and done by Team Azure Sky (currently just zacaj and I). Included the GPL file just about everywhere in the SVN and all credits are listed in the "_ReadMe from Keripo.txt" files. But with the official SVN up and revamped, things here might also change ; /

Megabyte (and anyone else), if you're willing to join up for some coding, apply to the project.

Thanks for the installer. I just got my ipod back (I had the screen fixed), and I've been out of the IPL community for a while, and this up and installed everything! Thanks a lot. (oh, and the raw source link is broken). Thanks! Razz Razz Razz

The real one isn't out yet, is it? If it isn't, I am so excited for it to be released.

Righto, progress report then (for now, things compile on my computer but it'll be a while before I get time to organize things and upload it to the ZeroSlackr SVN):

ZeroLauncher (this is where I've spent most of my time ; /):
- fully updated as partches to the latest svn (ie. uses groups, etc)
- fully functional MPD support (but still no MPD+launching apps due to memory issues)
- load of internal changes

Base framework:
- recompiled clean SVN loader2 (works with latest rockbox builds); I'll make my custom version later
- SVN schemes and fonts
- some slight hierarchy changes

Sneak Peak packs:
- Podzilla2-Mod: SVN updated, module auto-sorting finally implemented ; )
- iBoy: source obtained but nothing much changed yet
- iGameGear: launch module has a bunch of changeable arguments
- igpSP: recompiled version that reboots after exit
- iDoom-Mod: cleaned up startup text more, tested a whole load of wads
- rest (ie. iDarcNES, Floyd2illA, Podzilla0-Lite, ZacZilla): little/no changes except updating the launch modules, though I'll need to get the latest iDarcNES and ZacZilla source code from zacaj.

New packs: (all working)
- Atari800: just like the other emus, also changeable args
- DemoScene nano demo: quick launch, kick-ass demo ; )
- iPodMAME: hard-coded supported roms
- ViPodzilla: quick hex editing job; I should find the source and recompile this
- MvPD: just simple MVPlayer from iLaunch with a few schemes; need to get newest source files
- iLaunch: recompiled and works, though launching some things won't

To do:
- iGens: ask zacaj for latest source, should be simple
- ScummVM: never used before and no documentation found; need to do some research here
- Wikipodia: anyone have the source files to the modules???
- iNES: recompiled but couldn't get it to run; probably will drop since superseded by iDarcNES
- iNeoGeo: haven't much of a clue about this one...
- iZilla, PalmZilla, Poke-Zilla: I can recompile but is it even worth it or used???
- XZilla: has any progress even been made for it???

When I get time I'll probably upload my entire ZeroSlackr folder (minus the commercial, testing roms/files) some day for some testing, but I won't do an official first release until I've cleaned up all the source code ; P. Either way, watch the Software Development forums for the next few weeks!

Hm, I'll try it and talk to you later (but right now, extremely busy with school work). Also wondering, have you copied over your iGens menu to iDarcNES or iGameGear? I'd also like to integrate it into iPodMAME and Atari800, both of which don't have any real menu of sort. I'm pretty sure iPodMAME also uses hotdog, though I might need to use iBoy's menu for Atari800.

I have the movie player working. Its just that I just hex edited the binary thats used by iLaunch (and is probably very outdated), thus I'd prefer to recompile my own from up-to-date source.

@zacaj: In that case I'll probably just mess around with things myself ; )
