Update:
Mainstream fixes have been made; the official Installer 2 will be up and functioning again soon! Download the latest builds here
Heres a little gift for the new year
This is an unofficial build of Installer 2 from SVN (r2269). It worked
straight-out-of-the-box (or archive in this case) with my
freshly-iTunes-7.5-restored iPod nano, installing the latest userland,
kernel and podzilla2 nightlies without issues (no Sysinfo fix needed either!). The networked version downloads files listed at http://www.ipodlinux.org/User:Keripo/Unofficial_sources
(please DO NOT EDIT the page if you haven't asked me or someone
knowledgeable first), but you can also install things offline by also downloading the networkless package.
As of the moment, the installer installs a basic setup with podzilla 2
and a small set of official modules. The addition of more modules from
the nightlies will come later (hopefully with the help of Rufus mad
scripting skillz). If you want to install more stuff, youll have to
manually edit the packages.ipl of the networkless package.
One issue as of the moment is that, for some odd reason, packages cannot
be selected/unselected. Not exactly sure when this feature was lost
but, if I have time, I may try to look through the SVN source revisions
to re-enable it. As well, the installer is build from revision 2269 as
2270 (latest change) broke network connection if you arent using a
proxy. Hope to possibly resolve that too.
Nevertheless, without any further ado, here are the links:
> Installer 2 Unofficial
> Networkless packages (also download if you want offline installation)
Remember, this is WINDOWS ONLY and, even though it's straight from SVN code, this is also UNSUPPORTED! So dont go bothering the core devs. But dont go crying to me either cause I probably wont respond

Nice!
But one issue left... About task #29. Have you checked if the OF can still read the iTunesDB and if you can play music in the OF? |

I purely use Rockbox for music playback and installed iTunes just to test this, so I dont know . . .
Since it's from SVN, it'll probably also have the same issues as the
original builds (i.e. 5.5g videos aren't now magically supported
either).
Also, if anyone is using a hard-drive-installed version of Linux and is
willing to help me compile the Linux versions, please PM "Keripo Test
Account", thanks! |

Double post! O_o
With revision 2385 and 2386 (thanks fxb!), both issues (proxy breaking
and package selection) has been fixed and fxb has uploaded compiled
builds here.
The wiki page and installation sources will be updated tomorrow (or
sometime soon), so this unofficial installer is now fully obsolete and
no longer needed. In other words, Installer 2 (both networked and
netless) will be back up and functional soon!
Yay for responsiveness (thanks again fxb, now get some sleep!)

*yawn*
I'm glad this is fixed now.
Now find out what "error 10" is...
I can fix ticket 29 in the next few days I think. |
