Keripo’s Initial PvP Analysis of Kilo
tldr: Gusion Rebake Kilo is your freebie AoE nuker for those who are still Scarlet-less. She is a one-trick pony with the potential to 1-shot wipe your opponent team if set up properly, but requires some specific setups to be viable.
ShiftUp finally listened to my Survey Feedback and added a Gundam collab to the game!
Kinda. The bad news is that we don’t actually get a Gundam but instead a Gundam reference (e.g. THALOS is just a thicc version of the ASW-G-11 Gundam Gusion Rebake from Mobile Suit Gundam Iron Blooded Orphans). The good news is that instead of being piloted by a socially-awkward muscle-head, we get a socially-akward flat-chested loli!
Kilo is a Burst 3 MG Defender. Normally this would raise a few eyebrows and exclude her from PvP consideration but a closer look at her kit will make you realize she’s very similar to 2B. PvP-wise, the key thing to note is her Burst, which has an instant AoE with a 1150.84% multiplier but is based off 5% of her final HP, similar to 2B’s. This means the higher her max HP, the more damage she deals. In this sense, her “buffers” here are Noise, Frima, Mast, Quiry, and Blanc (indirectly). She also benefits from the Vigot cube and scales off her core count (luckily she is a free unit which you can Silver ticket exchange for, so C7ing her is even possible for F2P players). Due to the high multiplier, you can kinda get away with just a single buffer (e.g. just Noise or just Blanc) but a double buffer setup is ideal.
Kilo’s burst, however, is conditional on her S1’s self shield being up at time of burst. The upside is that this shield cannot be stripped away by Rosanna as it is not an actual buff, which means she has one less hard counter compared to 2B. This shield also does not take damage from Jackal/Bay damage sharing. It does take damage from RL splash damage, so to be safe, you will ideally need to position Kilo in P3 or P4. In the weird case her shield does get broken, her S1 and S2 skills will recover it, but in terms of PvP, the fight is already lost by then cause outside of her burst, Kilo offers no damage potential at all; she is literally a one-trick pony… do or die.
In terms of team building, being an MG with low burst gen makes her a bit difficult to team build with. Practically speaking she only has two viable setups: 1) a 2RL setup with Noise as her solo buffer, or 2) a 3RL setup with Noise + Blanc as her double buffer. Like with all AoE burst setups, the hard counter is Noah and the soft counter is Noise/Moran. At 2RL, a single buffer Kilo will be able to only barely kill non-Noise/Moran buffed teams. If you try to run Kilo in a single-buffer 2.5RL setup, there’s a very high chance the opponent will be able to survive; Kilo has no damage outside of her burst, so its a guarantee loss. At 3RL though, you can run a double buffer setup such as Noise + Blanc, which can 1-shot through everything except Noah, but has the downside of being slow (post-Emilia, even 3RL is considered slow nowadays) so you’ll need Jackal or Biscuit to protect your frontline from dying too early.
The other consideration you may want to make is analyzing the opportunity cost of running Kilo. Both her 2RL and 3RL setups require quite a number of key units. If you want to run Kilo in SP Arena, you’ll have to do a lot of cooking to ensure your other 2 teams aren’t compromised. If you want to run Kilo in Rookie Arena, you should probably question yourself of why run her over a Scarlet, SAnis or Emilia comp. If you want to try cooking with her, I recommend you first check out my testing results with her in my “PvP Test Matrix” spreadsheet and compare her win rates against other comps.
Regardless though, free is free. For a free unit, Kilo definitely does well and is actually usable on both offence and defence if you can cook with her. Plus, Gundam IBO reference FTW!
