Keripo's Corner Figures, Dollfies, Projects, Gaming, and TYPE-MOON
Could this be the True Ending?
A while back, following my second Japan trip, I ventured into the world of Dollfie Dreams and created my very first custom DD, Arcueid V0. It was “V0” because at that time, she was created using only standard/unremarkable parts that you can easily pick up online through web stores or hunt down through eBay/Yahoo Auctions Japan. While Arcueid V0 was pretty good, she wasn’t perfect enough. And so I went on a quest to complete V1.
Ideally, V1 would include a custom faceup, custom eyes, more stylized wig, and a proper skirt. A lot of stuff happened and there was much learning on the way. Went through many, many faceup revisions with two different faceup artists. Tried out a number of different eyes, some standard, some commissioned. Bought a whole bunch of test blonde wigs only to discover how incredibly hard it is to style something like Arc’s hairstyle (and apparently no one knew how to). Learned about all the different possible kinds of skirts there are out there and how a simple loop of bendable wire could suddenly make a skirt posable.
Of those goals, only half of them were done, but the result was good enough to declare V1 done and ready for photoing. The final faceup was completed by jadepixel (who just recently opened up faceup commission slots) who also sewed the modified 1/3-circle skirt. Wig still the same (Akira’s) and I settled on using Twin Snow’s CAC02 for the eyes (wanted to order 22mm ones but their webstore closed and owners disappeared). I also upgraded her bust to a sanded down L-shapely bust which I found more closely fitting Arc’s shape. Ironically, Volks decided to make both the DDIII Base Body and DDH-07 head mold standard, meaning I would have saved ~$250 had I waited a few months before making Arcueid V0… orz. All in all though, pretty happy with the result. Not perfection, but pretty close.
