Today was the US/Canada screening of the the Anohana Movie. For those unfamiliar with the movie, it is a retelling of the Anohana (short for Ano Hi Mita Hana no Namae wo Bokutachi wa Mada Shiranai., known in the US as AnoHana, We Still Don’t Know the Name of the Flower We Saw That Day.) TV anime series, from the point of view of one of the characters, Menma. See here for the movie’s PV. If you’ve never watched the series, I’d highly recommend watching it as long as you have a tissue box nearby (aka prepare for ninjas cutting onions every fkn episode). If you have, while the movie won’t bring much more closure than the original series, it’ll definitely bring tears once again.
As part of the movie screening promotion, each theatre was distributed a limited number of signed autograph boards as well as copies of the letters Menma wrote to each member of the Super Peace Busters at the end of the series. At my movie theatre, there were only 25 letters and I was lucky enough to arrive early enough to get one. For those who weren’t so lucky, here’s some pics, with the help of Menma herself! (figure not included)
I watched both the anime and the movie, but they still haven’t told me the name of that flower they saw that day!

Menma’s letters come in a nice pink envelope
There isn’t any envelope in the series, but the design is based off Menma’s notebook
Also comes with a neat flower print. Embedded in the flower print are a few black seeds (you can see some sticking out on the left petal of the first pic). My friend and I are planning to plant ours later and see how it grows ^_^
Menma’s five letters, one for each other member of the Super Peace Busters
“To Tsuroko. I love how gentle you are.”
“To Yukiatsu. I love how hard working you are.”
“To Poppo. I love how funny you are.
“To Anaru. I love how level-headed you are.”
“I love you, Jintan. I love you in the way that I love you and want to be your wife.”
Close-ups of the bunny character from Menma’s notebook
Scene where they find Menma’s letters – rewatch it here
In case these pictures weren’t enough, here’s something for the nostalgia
Random trivia: the song, “Secret Base ~君がくれたもの~ (10 years after Ver.)” is actually a cover by the voice actors of the song “Secret Base ~君がくれたもの~” originally sung by Zone. Before being used in Anohana, it was also covered as the ED for the anime, Today, in Class 5-2
P.s. If you need a break from all the ninjas cutting onions, here’s a sneak peak of what grown-up Menma might have been…

If you’re wondering about the message at the middle bottom, it says “Please watch until the very end of the ending!” I’m guessing he’s referring to the short clip after the credits.
Awesome! Thanks for putting these up.
I was 25th in line 90 minutes prior to Madoka Rebellion showing last December. I guess I’ll have to arrive much earlier for Anohana when it comes to BC in February.
